Dr. Griesbach

Dr. Griesbach is the National Director of Clinical Research for the Centre for Neuro Skills. She is also affiliated with the Department of Neurosurgery, at the University of California, Los Angeles. She serves as a member for the Federal Advisory Committee for the Scientific Merit Review Board for Brain Injury and also as an ad-hoc member for NIH study sections. She served as Secretary/Treasurer for the Women in Neurotrauma 2009-2011 term. Dr. Griesbach received her doctorate in Behavioral Neuroscience from the University of Texas in Austin under the training of National Academy of Science member, Dr. Abram Amsel. She later did her post-doctoral studies at the University of California, Los Angeles under Dr. David Hovda’s guidance. Her research focuses on understanding how pathophysiology of traumatic brain injury influences experience dependent plasticity. The findings from her animal studies have had a strong impact in the implementation of physical activity after TBI. She was the first to provide molecular basis to anecdotal observations on the timing of exercise after traumatic brain injury. Dr. Griesbach has now expanded her research to the clinical field and is exploring mechanisms that have an influence on post-acute recovery after TBI.
