Prof Jose Pineda


 

Pineda PhotoFollowing residency in Pediatrics Dr. Pineda completed training in Pediatric Critical Care, which included research training at Duke University’s Multidisciplinary Neuroprotection Laboratory. He then joined the faculty at the Department of Pediatrics and the McKnight Brain Institute of the University of Florida, where he conducted laboratory and clinical research studies of brain injury. Dr. Pineda was recruited to Washington University and St. Louis Children’s Hospital where he now directs the Neurocritical Care Program. In parallel to the development of robust clinical expertise, he has successfully conducted research investigating the mechanisms and potential new treatments for brain injury, including strategies for implementation of best clinical practices. He served as the founding Chair of the Pediatric Neurocritical Care Research Group. Dr. Pineda’s clinical research experience includes participation in NIH multicenter trials while serving as site investigator, steering committee member, and Chair of a Data and Safety Monitoring Board.
